Dr. Woldorff’s first introduction to the field of optometry was in 1982. While attending college in her hometown of Sacramento, CA, she worked for an optometrist, eventually running one of his offices. This experience intimately exposed her to the impact that good vision has for quality of life, inspiring her to pursue a career in optometry. She attended Southern California College of Optometry, graduating in 1990 with a Doctorate in Optometry. She worked for several years in San Diego in a small private practice. Her husband’s career in academia then took them to San Antonio, Texas, where she worked for 4 years providing eye care to the participants of a large clinical trial located at Lackland Air Force Base. She then worked at the Audie Murphy VA in the Department of Ophthalmology until her husband’s work again moved the now growing family to the Triangle area. For much of the next 10 years, she worked as an independent contractor at the Eye Care Centers located in Durham. In late 2010, she opened her own practice. Being a small independent practice has allowed her to provide eye care in a manner that she feels best suits her patient’s needs. In her free time she enjoys gardening, genealogy research, and spending time with her husband, two sons and two dogs, including their annual family reunion in Montana.
